2006 Classes
Fall 2006: "Public Lecture – The Conservation of Menokin" given by John Greenwalt Lee, at Second Presbyterian Church. John Greenwalt Lee is overseeing the stabilization and conservation of Menokin, the home of patriot Francis Lightfoot Lee, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and his wife Rebecca Tayloe Lee. Other projects John Greenwalt Lee has undertaken include work on Gunston Hall, Stratford Hall, and the Wickham Housing in Virginia as well as historic structures in Maryland, South Carolina, and Washington D.C. Over 75 members of the general public interested in skilled building craftsmanship attended the lecture.
Summer 2006: "Window Repair and Reglazing" taught by David Armington of Second Century Preservation, co-sponsored by Boaz and Ruth and the Jackson Foundation. In this two-week class, carpenter David Armington taught ten students basic window restoration techniques as they worked at the historic Meadowbridge Road Fire Station, which is listed on the National Register. This was the first of two classes in a series on historic window work, the second occurring in the winter of 2007.
